Re: Protesters, police clash in Russia

Head of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso warned Russia against attempting to bring misunderstandings between the members of the EU. According to his words, Russia, seems to be looking at certain members of the EU, such as Poland and the Baltic States, separately from the others. Barosso is of the opinion that Moscow shall understand , that Poland is entitled to defend its interests equally with France, Germany or Portugal.

Such comments were expressed after the Summit EU-Russia in Samara district, where the European leaders refused from retaining certain countries of the Eastern Europe involved in disputes with the Russian federation.

Approaches of the Russian Federation and the European Union towards the democracy have also been different on the forum, and the Prime Minister of Germany Angela Merkel criticised the authorities of Moscow for refusing certain demonstrations of protest. J. Barroso pointed out to the situation of human rights in Russia. „I cannot understand, why the country having such security structures cannot deal with the murders of journalists" -he said.
