Not all of these people are on the opposite end of the political spectrum from myself - and there are many people whose view is vastly different from mine who I do enjoy engaging with. I can learn from these people.

But I can't learn a lot from people being rude and insulting. I already know that that just gets people's backs up and makes disagreements escalate. And I already know why people behave like that. What else is there to learn from such behaviour?
