mate, i think the problem isn't global warmin'. as a matter 'o fact, while i think that global warming, courtesy of mr. gore, is an issue that most folks can get their minds around (since it was neatly broken down with alot of pictures and pie charts)....its besides the point.

lets say, for a moment, that global warming doesn't exist at all.

well, we're still eradicating species after species here on earth...we're still treating the planet like a giant landfill...we're still overly reliant on fossil fuels...and to speak personally about it: im part 'o the problem, just like probably everyone on this board is.

i mean, we still wanna drive our cars. i still love to crank my air conditioning (i was over at Bank of America's headquarters today, and its FREEZING in there). we're approaching stage four drought conditions here in charlotte, north carolina, but the idea of having me waste sit around me toilet to save a few gallons 'o water makes me unhappy (so i don't). i still buy things made outta plastic all the time, even though i know it won't biodegrade, and you'll never see me in a rubber raft challenging an oil tanker (yarrr greenpeace, oh fearless eviro-pirates!).

i want to enjoy me life, drink me mead, and swim around in all the pleasures technology has given me! not live in a home made of recycled rubber tires, powered by solar panels, wearing clothes made of hemp, living off the grid, while snacking on a soybar.

this is the real problem, not global warming.

and meridious matey, lol...paddle back to your fred thompson thread and keep lookin' into that crystal ball 'o yours, sailor. *hugs*

You are right, in that aspect.
We have a 75' housboat that consumes about 800-1000 gal of fuel in 7 days. Then there are the 4-6 jet skis on the trip consuming more fuel again. We no longer use the HB for the past 2 year... just to much $$$ and it seems those that go with use forget to pay back their share of the cost!!

I'll be going to ride the 'busa at a track this weekend just for fun and I'd hate to give that up.
However, there will come a point when we'll not have much of a choice. Hopefully we choose before then.
