Ethanol fuels politicians campaigns with contributions from ADM and votes from Iowa, so even though it's lousy energy policy, it's locked in, and since every presidential campaign starts in Iowa, every presidential candidate begins his campaign by endorsing Ethanol, or ends his campaign by pointing out how ludicrous ethanol is.
