I consider what were doing a form of "play".
We were not pointing them at each other,
or tossing them back and forth. We were
only shooting them and watching the pellets
hit the ice.
I can't think of any other word than "play"
to describe it, and the word does not
automatically connote irresponsible behavior,
whatever you might think.
Shooting at a target range would also be "play".
So for that matter, now that I have thought
it over, is any recreational discharge of a firearm.
So I guess you have "played" with guns yourself,
wiseguy.
Don't get so wadded up over nothing, OK?
