I contest that whether or not they are willing to does not necessarily make them competent or safely able to. Four of you guys who support carrying weapons here all have different ideas on when to use them, what is dangerous , how you would use them etc.
That is what happens when you put this level of responsibility in the hands of the general public. You may be trained in the military and you think along those lines. Shoot to kill. Fucking effective but maybe unnecessary. The next guy thinks he should shoot to disable. May cost him his life but it may also stop anyone loosing theirs.

Basically all that can be said for widespread gun proliferation and the law of the jungle you suggest is that it would lead to mayhem. It means not only do you need to worry about people who may mean you harm, you need to worry about people who overreact or escalate relatively harmless situations.
