If we start interfering with the sea, what effect will that have on the environment? Presumably the amount of water needed to power your upmarket shack will be huge. I am not a scientist, but recall something about rain coming from water skimmed from the top of the sea...
This technology is not efficient yet and not ready for use, but if it does become so, what safeguard is there for replacement of the water it uses?
I am not a luddite, but this could have a more serious effect on the environment than the destruction of rain forests.
