It is pertinent to a discussion of US Politics that the US was booed - virtually unanimously. Previously the US had us on their side - but now with a change of government that has ceased to be the case.

The US is becoming increasingly more isolated, and as the US economy weakens, unless it begins to recognize that we are all on this planet together, it is likely to become more so.

Although of course China also needs to clean up its act (and in many ways - by no means only WRT carbon emissions) its hypocritical of the US to say 'you first' when the average Chinese carbon footprint is miniscule compared to the average American.

A dose of reality wouldn't hurt.

And the world booing is perhaps a small dose of that.
Well, Dais, I think you can see now what kind of attitude is prevalent in the US and I'm afraid that this isn't going to change until we get a painful wakeup call--9/11 was one, but didn't manage to make the point. The American people are arrogant because they feel powerful and they willfully remain ignorant of those they look down on. Many people here truly believe that it isn't possible for humans to damage the ecosystems that we all depend on for our clean air and water. Another large segment are religious and believe that these are the END TIMES, therefore we don't need to do anything to solve the problems around us because Jesus is coming and He's going to take care of it. Pride goeth before a fall.
