The financial institution for whom I used to work has a program where company "officers" and above had to take customer service calls for a few hours a month right alongside the standard "reps". It was some sort of effort to keep the management aware of the products and customer needs and whatnot.
Anyways, in my travels there the pitfalls were myriad. Lotsa of occasions thinking a voice was female, but it was just a young dude. That usually wasn't bad - I mean they were, like, the 14-yr old "authorized user" of the account and had to know their voice hadn't changed yet.
Oh, but the occasional chick that sounded like Barry White talking through a bag of gravel? That was always awkward.
My favorite was something like an account coming up as "Chris" and "Denise" in SF, CA. Denise was on the line trying to do something that she couldn't without the other person's input. I asked if I could speak to her husband. "Who?" "Chris...your...hus...er..." Chris[tine] came on the line and...whatever. At least they
sounded pretty hot.
All sorts of neat stories...
