Anyways, I must be the crazy one here. While child molestation is an incredibly sick minded crime, I think it's absolutely ridiculous to say it's worse than murder.

If any of you have lost a loved one due to tragic circumstances, you'll understand the complete helplessness, emptiness and the impossible to fulfill desire to see them "one last time" that comes with it. Child molestation is terrible, but the person lives on. The person is able to get help to deal with any mental or physical issues that may arise from the assault. And loved ones are able to comfort them and be with them in times of need, which helps everyone heal.

You don't get that with a dead person. They're dead, you'll never see them again, and you'll know that the suffering they endured in their last minutes are just as terrifying, if not more so, than molestation.

This is one of the few arguments where I seriously doubt anyone will convince me otherwise. But, admittedly, this is a position that comes down to personal opinion and we obviously disagree strongly.
If child molestation ever does become punished with sentences equivalent to murder, I suspect more child molesters will be more proned to murder their victims in addition to molesting them. That would be worse for the families.
