Your right, I did volunteer and love my job.
As far as the rest, no matter how you try to sex it up with terminology, killing is killing. To the guy on the ground, there is no such thing as unconventional circumstances. All the rest is some guy trying to justify his job with big words. And lest you forget, the Marine Corps wrote the manual on counter-insurgency in the late 1800s, early 1900s. " The Small Wars Manual" is still the go to document on how to fight insurgents.
