The role of a "senior political advisor" is to make intelligent decisions to help their candidates campaign. This requires a high degree of trust by the candidiate.
The advisor's actions, DUI and driving 40 mph above the speed limit, does not demonstrate responsible execution of his job, which is to minimize negative press, not create it. Obviously, just from this thread, the issue of DUI and the law is controversial.
I do not believe there will be any significant harm to Hillary's campaing. If the trust is gone, however, the candidate has the right to remove an advisor. That is reality in politics and the advisor should, and probably does realize it.
