I think Romney's endorsement is probably more of a "be loyal to the party" gesture. I guessing that he probably wouldn't do it if it were just up to him.

On the other side of the political divide there has been a conflict going on between Hillary and Obama but I'm guessing that whoever loses that conflict will set aside any personal animosity that may have come from their campaigning and will support the party nominee as well.

This action isn't all that uncommon during the primary portions of politics.
