SOB - I agree with what you said regards the right having serious issues along the lines of ministering to folks and preaching the word regards the poor etc etc.....

This issue goes directly to the progressive mindset and has politcal undertones to me at least- Brookes wrote a book 2 years ago- after serious and lengthy research the up shot is cons give an average 30% more to charity than progressives. The point being, they are great when it comes to getting the gov. to open up the taxpayer pocket books but not much when it comes out of their own kick. This opulence is fine as long as he realizes that for all is preaching, it sounds a little hollow now.

I don’t belong to a church. I did but grew weary when I read about the riches the catholic church has acquired and maintains. Yes they also have huge costs – missionary work, propping up parishes that don’t make their existence worth keeping, but in the end, the wealth the church holds is rather grotesque.

Same for the mega churches etc. The preachers who preach the word by and large due to folks who occupy a "class" it appears above that of the average trinity church parishioner. Oh don’t get me wrong, when Roberts said if he didn’t raise millions he was going to die and that old lady on a pension sent cash, he is just as guilty as Wright is. And maybe is it time to expose that for what it is, and I say, bring it on.

I know that, and I don’t play any games with it. Each according to his needs- BUT from this perspective, considering the folks he is working with, in the conditions under which he fostered outreach, job prgms , in the arena he chose this is just a little much.

In short he’s just another hypocrite, feeding off folks who have even less resources than those who put the mega church hucksters in their mansions. I am forced as well to make another connection here- the Obamas didn't exactly cover themselves with glory ala tithes and charitable giving etc. before the last 2 years. On the average 3%, and that’s only dragged up by the last 2 years in which he was now in the senate (4% and 6%)....hummm a cynic could make much of that..but I'll leave it.
