If Israelis hear Germans discussing about that Germans don't like to defend Israel with weapons - I think they just will be happy about and laugh like crazy, because Jews anyhow don't like to be defended from Germans as in the years 1933-1945 they were defended from Germans. But perhaps only 10-20% of all Germans would defend their own country Germany with weapons.

That is my general impression of Germany as an outsider.
Your last comment, which I have bolded, is exactly my impression as well - yet produced angry disagreement from several Americans here in another thread when I said something similar. It is interesting to see it repeated here by a German poster.
