Obama said that he would unconditionally sit down and talk with all of America's enemies: Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, and even Syria, the home state of Hamas.
It's fairly clear to me that Obama is just playing damage control and expelling the guy because the public found out about what he was doing, not because of it.
