Now, I will intergect that, w.r.t. the lazy idea, it is very frustrating to teach a subject where being lazy in studying it is not an option even if the basic concepts are to be grasped. It is hard to compete against other majors where a grade of B is assigned if the student just shows up and writes a few papers. That is extemely frustrating, as some students expect the same effort expenditure on their part for that B. For many subjects in science, that isn't going to happen.
