I guess you didn't have much to worry about from enemy tanks but I think I would slow down to make sure we didn't run into any ambushes, mines, etc.

I remember that night. Explosions in the distance. The Iraqi Armor had no chance against the Abram. The next morning you could see the devastation. And for all it was worth that was the only fighting I saw. But if anyone told you that it was a death struggle or anything that alluded to a tough battle they told you a big one. There was no contest and they didn't have a chance. I was in a support unit driving a duece 1/2. What I also remember about that night was during the convoy we were blacked out and all you had to guide you was to focus on a tiny red light on the back of the truck in front.

Another thing about Iraq were when the oil wells were burning you could feel their heat 10 or 15 maybe 20 miles away. I remember tripping about that. I thought that those fires would burn forever and I named one after my son.

There are a few more stories that I've told repeatedly in the past. People don't ask much about it anymore. It's kinda funny though, now I second guess myself and wonder if I saw some of the things I thought I did. There were some surreal moments that now I'm not quite sure happened. It's a queer thing.
