I pay good money above-and-beyond my property taxes to ensure that it is not only "in my kid's classroom", but that it is integrated into every subject he takes from arithmetic to spelling...from history to science.

That is my choice.

As for whatever slivers of religion still exist in public schools...fine...whatever...just as long as you treat the new cult/religion of Man Made Global Warming the same way. I personally don't care if public school kids end up gimped because of a lack of faith and principles (again, advantage, my boy)...I just don't want them to emerge especially retarded because of forced indoctrination into the Global Warming cult.
