Dear Cyberella,
I have to question the patriotism of some people, who claim to be religious. According to our own US Constitution, in article six:
Quote:
|
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

How can anyone claim to be a good patriot to our Constitution and republic, if they are unwilling to abide by the supreme (secular) law of the land?
What you are advocating is similar to the previous attitude against Catholics. It was said that they were less loyal to our republic because they had an allegiance to the Vicar of Christ on Earth.
Anyone who claims religious superiority over our secular Constitution can be considered less patriotic than someone who acknowledges the supreme and secular law of the United States over any form of religious laws or practice. We have the First and Ninth Amendment for a reason.
