Yeah, same here, I usually wait for the update to run (or do it manually) before I start any programs once I've booted up.
I was thinking worst case if Doc was planning to have the system running 24/7. If so, I'm sure he could code his program so that it would allow and update at a specific time each day. It likely wouldn't affect his program but if there are important things connected to his computer that are being run its always best to prevent potential problems ahead of time.
