I'm not really sure what you would describe as an "insult." What Hannity does is say things like, "The man's wife wrote her thesis about how she hates white people," and "The woman, who went to Princeton and Harvard Law, has no right to say that America is 'downright mean.'" He constantly emphasizes, almost always ignoring the context, any quote that his mundane audience will accept as evidence that she hates America. I'm not so sure it's as insulting to Michelle Obama as it is to his listeners. However, if you ever listen to the people who call into his show, you can see that they are the kind of folks that eat that shit up.

Hannity can say whatever he wants. I completely agree with that. But Barack Obama has every right to say something to the effect of, "Pick on me, not my wife." It's not as though Obama is planning to make an Alien and Sedition Act-type law that forbids citizens from demeaning his wife. He's just telling people that he doesn't like it when people talk shit about his wife.

I'm just glad the Frankens and Maddows and Olbermanns and Matthewses haven't opened up the can of worms that is Cindy McCain's background. They have every right to, I suppose, but it'll be a sad day if they ever do.
