Reagan and the Democrats worked together, and for the most part, Clinton and the Republicans did even better. But when it was all Republican for a few years there, we had the biggest spending increases in history, and it seems to have continued.

I don't much care for Pelosi and Reid, I think they're weak, but I also think that the average American out there realizes that it will take a new President for things to get done and that the 14% approval rating has everything to do with the fact that they didn't have the votes necessary to end the war.

Come November, no one is going to oust the Dems from Congress; they'll likely gain even more seats, which will baffle everyone on this thread because it seems unanimous here that the low approval rating is a reflection of Democrats only, which it isn't.

It will take a new congress too. Right now politicians are working for partisan politics, not us. You can see the members on this board that have been so brain-washed by their own party--that they can't see the forest through the trees. No matter how wrong their party is -- either republican or democrat--they are on this board in force defending very bad decisions.

This is the worse congress I have ever known, & I have been around for 55 years. There is a complete stale-mate in congress simply because they all have one single goal. That is to win both houses & the white house too. That is all that is on their minds--& they don't give a dam about the hard working Americans who write their pay-checks.

Unfortunately--they all have what they want. Politicans in congress are paritisan to the core, & their millions of constiuents are too. No matter how bad it gets--soaring inflation, high energy costs, medical care, education, social security or medicare. They aren't going to do anything, because they know out here in never never land--they have all their partisan support, no matter what they do, or should I say what they don't do.

We see this every day, & ignore it. There is no compromise, no working amoung themselves to come out with something that will work & I mean work for us. At every opportunity Nancy Pelosi is in front of a micro-phone & camera slamming P. Bush or someone else, (while leaving out the critical portions of why they voted against what she wanted). The last two years have been nothing more than a dog & pony show & for what? Their absolute rabid hate for G.W. Bush.

So be very careful for what you wish for: Meaning a democrat house, senate & white house. It wasn't that long ago that it was reversed.

If you really want to make a difference. Don't vote along party lines, vote for the best person who will represent YOU (regardless of party status). It takes a little extra effort to investigate their ideas, but believe me, in the long run it would be worth it to you & to each & every American.

This is exactly why I am a registered Independant.
