I don't know how most people maintain their cars, what I do is every Sat. morning I check all fluid levels, clean the air filter, check the tires, wiper blades, twice a year I drain and flush the cooling system and spark plugs in both my truck and wifes car. These simple things will keep a car running in good shape for a long time. These are common things that almost everyone can and should do.
