That's him playing both the left and right. Moore is to the Dems and/or left what pastors with prostitutes are to the right.
That Moore letter in '04 was another chutzpah move, an attempt to pretend to be the Dem's top cheerleader and stir up the left/right rhetoric. It was also to fool the public and/or make them forget how he torpedoed the Dems in '00 by actively championing Nader. Google his '00 letters to Gore and you'll get the whole picture. With 'friends' like that, who needs enemies. His real deal was making a load of money and fame and name for himself.
That was all to fill the coin box for his movie. He starts off his Fahrenheit 9.11 movie portraying a Greek tragedy of 'Gore losing to a GOP fix' but hhhhmmmmm...remarkably forgets to include the big role he played in acquiring left leaning Dem and independent voters to Nader.
If it wasn't for Nader and Moore, Gore would have won. But backing Gore and seeing him win wouldn't have been good for the bottom line. So, he helped Bush win, pretending to be a champion of the 'real left.' That makes no issue sense, but it sure makes financial sense.
He turned around and used the Bush presidency he caused to stir the pot the other direction to make more money capitalising on the angsts of the Bush presidency with his films. Not just F911, but the others too. And the champion of the poor lives in some very nice pads as a result, charging high speaking fees to boot. He's the conciousless capitalist he claims to oppose and decry, a Gordon Gekko manipulating the stock market on 'Left Street.' The political right gets a phyrric victory by being maligned as part of his fiddle and playing right into his rhetoric too.
