No one can predict what kind of president Bush will be seen as in say 50 years. Saying that historians will claim that his policies kept us safe makes about as much sense as saying that Bush will be seen as the "worst president ever".

What will Obama do? Does he have character? If forced into a decision between doing whats right, and possibly becoming unpopular at home and abroad for it or doing whats clearly wrong just to remain popular with the people, which do you think Obama will choose? Within 6 months we will have our answer.
I think it is every leader's dream to be seen as a great leader and person once he/she has left office. I assume that is Obama's dream as well. After all, if there is any single person who is most able to influence the World, it would be the President. Atleast for the sake of his own public image, he will try his hardest to make the best of his presidency. What I wonder is if in time, his desire to influence will become an insuppressible need to influence. A president who clings to power at all costs is no good to us.
