Sausage on a stick?
The Scots do maintain significant Norman influences in their cooking, and thus (in my experience) have very good food available in even the most rural areas. However the food of England does leave much to be desired, unless one looks to the ethnic foods imported from India and the like.
American cuisine (were there such a singular thing) is far from "sausage on a stick," though.
