And there is nothing morally or politically wrong about claiming the opposing candidate is a danger to American security or the economy.
Yes, there is something morally and politically wrong by claiming an opposing candidate is a danger to the American economy or to security: When it's a bogus charge leveed by paranoid sentimentalists who give a voice and a platform to the extremists among us.

That's when I have a problem with it.

I thought George Bush was a danger to America on several fronts, and that's why like millions of others, I thought it was important to get the word out about it and beat him at the ballot box using ideas about would be better.

The far left goes over-the-top and panders, but the far-right in America takes it a few steps further by giving a platform to crazy idiots who are simply uncomfortable with a black president. They think the world is ending, and they sincerely believe Beck and Limbaugh and Jon Voigt, and all the other sentimental douchebags on the right.

As long as they keep giving aid and comfort to the most ignorant among us, it'll drive away anyone with an ounce of rationality left in them.

The white voting base, IMHO, will continue to whittle away for the GOP as long as the party remains exclusive to it's currently rigid ideology of the past. George Bush was supposed to actually be a change of pace that way, and he never delivered on that promise.

The GOP is going to have to really abandon the old ways quick if they want to be viable, but I think we'll have to see them actually go to war with each other first in order for the progressives in that party to take the reigns once more.

But it'll be hard since it's been decades now that the GOP counted a greater majority of thinkers over rash sentimentalists.
