But those are local agencies with a connection to their communities. We are talking about federal in this thread, about all they do well is the military and that is not an efficient operation financially.

Interesting point. The military is a decent example I guess. There is also medicare, the federal judicial system, etc.

Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got blacks the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things. Now they are opposing health care.
