Re: Fighting Back

I realize I'm joining this thread late, but I heard now for 20 yrs that Chistians or Chistianity is under attack in this nation. About 12 yrs ago I sat in a Sunday School class that was being held in a high school( we paid rent) and heard that comment. First, I've got to say, there are places in the world where Christians are "under attack" but folks it ain't here. To make statements like that to me is an insult to the people that are being persecuted in the Middle East and parts of Africa. If Christians want to feel attacked try preaching the gospel in Saudi Arabia. I'm sure there are other places where Christianity is not tolerated. About 10 years ago I had a conversation w/a Greek Orthodox priest, he explained how they still had matyrs because of the part of the world their denomination was in and trying to reach. What I do see is a certain loss of influence by a particular brand of Christianity and hearing people claiming that it is an attack.

I think it interesting that this so call attack is supposedly coming from the "gay community". I certainly this some of the "facts" are circumspect to say the least. But If you have an objection to gays getting married, simple rule, don't marry anyone gay. I have been married to the same women more that 24 years and I can't understand how a gay couple would threaten my marriage. Maybe, it's because I don't want to be married to a gay man, so the fact that some neighbor did, won't threaten my commitment to my wife. The belief that homosexuality is just another temptation escapes me. I have gay friends who seem perfectly normal to me, I'm not interested in what they do in bed, but then I'm not interested in what my neighbors do in bed.

If homsexuality is such a terrible sin why didn't Jesus mention it? There are sparse references to homsexuality in the New Testament. I know it's coming so when you throw the Bible quotes at me, count the words in the New Testament and how many are directed at homosexuality. And I've got to say Jesus seemed much more concerned about "spiritual pride" than he was about anyone's sexuality. As far as the Old Testament, there's rules for slavery, and an example of human sacrifice ,Judges 11. So I'm not interested in Old Testament Quotes.

Please find a reasonable fight. This is silly
