Once Cap & Trade goes into effect energy in the United States will cost us more. Possibly double what it costs now. Gas will double, electricity will double, every energy source will cost more. Maybe not in the first year but soon after the regulations become more strict making everything more and more expensive as time goes by. And it's all based off of faulty science....that man is the sole cause of Global Warming, something that isn't happening right now anyway. The Planet is in a cooling cycle now. It all has to do with the Sun not Carbon Dioxide. This all is just a way to steal money from us so he can give it to his buddies.
Obama claimed it would amount to an increase in prices equal to the cost of a postage stamp. When has Obama ever been honest when it comes to spending, tax increases, or what his Stimulus Bill is doing? He's intentionally trying to raise the price of energy in this country so it will curb our usage by cutting off our oil and coal sources, and at the same time he fails to offer any viable alternatives. His economic and energy policies are based on Pie in the Sky theories not on anything substantial. This policy will kill jobs. By making it more expensive to do business in America it will force more and more businesses to move their operations elsewhere.
The only alternative is Nuclear but of course Obama's special interest groups wouldn't have that. So while Europe has gone nuke we won't have any choices...but to pay through the ass for whatever energy the Democrats decide is clean and green enough for us to use. Total insanity.

Two main things to understand about Waxman-Markey: First, it will not reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, at least not at any point in the near future. The inclusion of carbon offsets, which can be manufactured out of thin air and political imagination, will eliminate most of the demands that the legislation puts on industry, though in doing so it will manage to drive up the prices consumers pay for every product that requires energy for its manufacture — which is to say, for everything. Second, it represents a worse abuse of the public trust and purse than the stimulus and the bailouts put together. Waxman-Markey creates a permanent new regime in which environmental romanticism and corporate welfare are mixed together to form political poison. From comic bureaucratic power grabs (check out the section of the bill on candelabras) to the creation of new welfare programs for Democratic constituencies to, above all, massive giveaways for every financial, industrial, and political lobby imaginable, this bill would permanently deform American politics and economic life.

It's not even designed to reduce carbon emissions. It's designed to offset the effects that Cap & Trade causes in job losses and to pay for Medicare and Social Security. That's why the failure of Social Security reform during Bush's first term was so important to Democrats.

Soon they'll be putting in regulations that mandate computor controlled thermostats in all of our homes telling the government what we set our home's temp to. Then they'll be charging us for any usage over the government mandated maximum.
