The idea that she was "attacked" because she is a woman is really silly.
I do think it was wrong to bring up her daughter's pregnancy. And I would remind everyone that Obama stated he would fire anyone in his campaign(and reminded the crowd that his mother was 18 when he was born) that tried to make an issue of it. The only thing that makes it "news" at all is Palin's stand on birth control and abstinence. But I think it is out of line to focus on that.
I think Letterman's remark was crass and in bad taste, but I also believe that Palin tried to "milk" it for everthing it was worth.
If the conservatives here can't remember the attacks on Clinton and the vehemence directed towards HRC, there may be a little selective amnesia creeping in from the right. And let's not forget Rush's comment about the whitehouse "dog" which was Chelsea.
But Palin's two biggest enemies are 1. Members of Mccain's campaign and 2. herself. I'll never forget the "deer in the headlights look" when as about SCOTUS decisions that she disagreed with other than "Roe v Wade" and her rambling nonsensical answer, or her response to the question about the Bush doctrine. To bring those answers up is completely fair.
If she actually gets the nomination in 2012, then it's Obama by a landslide. I think there is a sleeper out there, kinda like Clinton was in '92, but on the pub side that will come out and put up a formidable campaign. But we shall see

I would like to say a few things as well. First of all I agree completely with your post.
Palin has received no unfair media bias. What she has received is the appropriate amount of negative coverage by media doing their jobs, calling out an idiot who was in way over her head. The notion that such an ill-informed flake of a person could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency is absurd. The media were right to call her out and if anything they were not hard enough on her (what magazines do you read?..cmon).
Good riddance to her.
