Ignoring the fact that I'm not a member of any affiliated party, I'll address your rant if only to enlighten you...

Ending slavery, making cars safer, ensuring that food & medicine were properly labelled, fighting for our right to become an independant nation, and ending racially motivated segregation: conservatives in America opposed all these things.

Yes liberalism is indeed counter to repressive policies advocated by conservatives in this country.
