Then Canada should lower the prices of a passport and base it less on user fees, or alternatively offer family packages.

And they probably won't do it for a day, but if in the 5 years you'll have the passport the only country you would have visited is the US and you only intended to visit it for one day, then we aren't talking about a very major contributor to the tourism industry.
