And they probably won't do it for a day, but if in the 5 years you'll have the passport the only country you would have visited is the US and you only intended to visit it for one day, then we aren't talking about a very major contributor to the tourism industry.
What about the US?.....why should we lower our passport rates when it's your policy that started this mess? Why even go down this road? It only inconveniences legitimate travellers and businesses and does NOTHING to address security concerns according to the experts. Why hassle the people making 200,000,000 trips across this border every year when you're only after a handful of deviants? It makes No SENSE WHATSOEVER. It's bad policy, pure and simple. The terrorists must be laughing their heads off because they've achieved their aims at curtailing our freedoms through bone-headed legislation like this.

By the way, the one-day visitor contributes BILLIONS of dollars a year to the economies of BOTH the US and Canada.
