Of course it's a good idea. The fact that some people are too stupid to realize that efficiency is not a consittutional argument doesn't mean the issue can be ignored. Republicans will call democrats "weak" on defense and terrorism no matter what democrats do. It worked for them in 2002 and 2004 (against a candidate with the silver star!) and it wasn't true then either. So they will use it until it doesn't work any more.

Russ Fiengold has no chance to win the democrat nomination. He's too far left on many issues.
Maybe. But being "republican lite" hasn't worked for them either.

There is absolutely no scenario that would benefit the United States by leaving Iraq at this time, or giving a deadline for departure. It would only strenghten the resolve of the terrorists & insurgents to stay in the fight, & would mean a major victory to them. This only means more terrorist attacks across the globe.

The only way is to win in Iraq. By staying on course to build up & train the Iraqi military & security forces, so they can defend their own country.
There is no scenario that benefits the US by making an open ended commitment in Iraq either. It only makes it look like we're too stupid or arrogant to admit this was a bad idea to begin with. Sticking around to serve as targets for every insurgent in Iraq while continuing to make ourselves a laughingstock for our delusional claims of being welcomed as liberators serves no function that I can see.
