Body of Danish soldier killed in Iraq to be returned Friday COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - The body of a Danish soldier killed in Iraq last week will be returned to Denmark on Friday, the Air Force said. Lance Cpl. Kim Wadim was killed Sept. 23 when a roadside bomb detonated near a three-car motorcade carrying nine members of a Danish Air Force unit assigned to protect diplomats from Denmark in southern Iraq. Eight other soldiers were injured. No diplomats were traveling with the motorcade heading for the Danish Camp Dannevang, near the southern city of Basra. Wadim's body will be flown to the Karup air base, 265 kilometers (164 miles) northwest of Copenhagen, where a military memorial service will be held, the Air Force said Tuesday. Wadim, 36, was part of a 10-man team responsible for the security of Danish Foreign Ministry officials. The unit is not part of the 463-member Danish Army contingent based at Camp Dannevang. Wadim became the third Danish soldier killed by roadside bombs in Iraq. A fourth Dane was killed by friendly fire in 2003, and another was killed in a car accident in southern Iraq.

Rest in peace Kim.
