Re: The Iraq Page, RIP soldiers

This is a very thoughtful thread, Samantha. I think you mentioned that Australians figured among the dead military personnel who have died in Iraq, but I thought I would add their names and details here.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Martin Pardoel, 35, an Australian serving with the British Royal Air Force (RAF), died with nine other members of his company when the C-130K Hercules he was aboard crashed north of Baghdad on January 30, 2005. He was married, and the father of three children.

RIP ‘Paulie’ Pards.

Pvt Jacob Bruce Kovko, 25, died on april 21, 2006, in his barracks in the Australian Army compounds in Baghdad, of a gunshot wound to the head, apparently caused when his gun accidentally discharged. The manner of his death and the return of his body to Australia were the subject of controversy and a subsequent inquiry. He was married, and was the father of two children.

RIP Jake.

RIP all soldiers and civilians from all nations who have died in Iraq.
RIP all Iraqi people who have died in the war.

Condolences to their families and friends everywhere.

Tethys
