The Emperor has no clothes, people finally figured it out, and that's that for the GOP, until the Democrats blow it.
The GOP lost the carefully cultivated image, and suddenly appeared to be a group of fat, disgusting, corrupt, incompetant pigs.
It will take decades to get that image out of the publics mind, especially after the hearings bring it all out into the open in the next two years. Every congressional committee chairman, both House and Senate, has subpoena power and an axe to grind. And a good set of hearings, that dig up some good dirt, and get a lot of airplay, could propel that committe chair into the Whitehouse.
