We often think no war = peace. I find that funny. If we had gone to war in Rwanda in 1994 we could have saved those lives that were irradicated. Hitler probably would have talked with the allies as well. Meanwhile his forces would have been mobilizing ready for the surprise attack.
The fundamental problem is that many assume all sides would go at talks fairly and equally. This isn't true. You cannot trust people who kill for religion, who blow themselves up, or who scream death to the West. It is their fault we can't negotiate.
