That's a misinterpretation on your part. Palestine's borders were established by the British, but the state of Isreal was created by Israel and ratified by the UN.

Interestingly, the Arab Palestinians had no desire to creat their own state for 40 years, but their Arab neighbors tried to steal the land for themselves from almost day 1.
