Saddam Hussein could be months away from developing a nuclear bomb if he can find a source of weapons-grade material, according to Western intelligence estimates.
Iraq still aims to become the Arab world's first nuclear power. Senior Washington officials said at the weekend that Saddam had resumed work on trying to enrich uranium.
In the past 14 months US intelligence agencies have stopped an attempt to buy thousands of aluminium tubes for use in centrifuges to enrich uranium, they said.
