Let me educate you about Tibetan Buddhism. Tibetan Buddhism is more or less between Buddhism and Hinduism. In Yuan Dynasty, Kubilai Khan support one type of Lama incarnation to rule all Tibet. However, that Lama was not popular, and was overthrown after Yuan Dynasty was overthrown in Beijing. In Ming Dynasty, Tibet had many Lamas who divided the local power. Beijing gave more fundings to the Dalai Lama incarnation against other Lamas. In Qing Dynasty, the kings confirmed the power of Dalai Lama, and to balance the power, they also set up Panchan Lama to co-govern Tibet. Both of them must be recognized and inaugurated in Beijing.
There are two types of human skin drums in Tibetan Buddhism. One of them is made from the skins of the dead Lamas. This type of skin drums are used to summon the gods and ghosts in religious ceremonies. The other type of skin drums must be made from virgin female teenager slaves. The girls who qualify to be made into drums must have never had any sexual activities, and have never said and done anything dirty. This type of drums are more used for the living Lamas to practice religion for themselves. If you have any knowledge of Hinduism, you will know that some sects of Hinduism require sexual activities to practice religion. Here it is the same. Sexual intercourse is also necessary for Tibetan Buddhism Lamas to practice their religion, and its effects are upgraded by the skin drums made from female virgins.
Nowadays, CCP prohibit the second type of drums, but not the first type. So if you have the chance to visit Tibet, you can still buy the first type of skin drums. The price ranges from 600 to 1000 yuan, which is only about 80 to 120 US dollars.

The first picture you see in this website is a Skeleton Bowl used in similar situations as baptizing. The second one is a Bone Flute with a very high pitch. The third to the seventh pictures are about human skin drums. The two hemispheres that you see are made from human skulls, and the drum is covered by the skins. The last one is another Skeleton Bowl. These four websites show where the skeletons that are not used to make bowls go.

This picture shows the skins peeled off from teenager virgin girls. Tibetan Buddhism has special techniques to peel a whole piece of slave skins. I don't think you want to hear the details.

If you visit Tibet Archive Museum, you can find the original copy of a letter written in 1950 in Tibetan language from Lhasa to the Rebudian tribe of Tibet:
"To celebrate the Buddhist birthday of Dalai Lama, all members of the lower temple must practice religious script for 15 times. To finish all procedures, we need to prepare food for the eagles. Please immediately send one set of intestines, two skeleton skulls, all types of blood and a whole piece of human skin."
If you really want to know about Tibet, go there and visit those museums. Tibet before 1952 is only a paradise for those high ranking lamas.
By the way, there is a song about human skin drums made from female virgins: Sister Drum
YouTube - dadawa æœ±å“²ç´ é˜¿å§é¼“ sister drum mtv
Her elder sister cannot speak, so is considered very pure virgin who cannot have said anything dirty. She is selected to be made into drums, and her younger sister is missing her and finally find the drum made by her elder sister.
