Sad to say, budget cuts for our public media is inevitable, and a foregone conclusion.
Bush obviously does not want ANY media that's not in almost-total control (see : Bill Moyers and his battles against Tomlinson), and his oil war is sapped ALL our $$, anyway.
It's also meshing quite nicely with Clear Channel's battle against Air America, and other US media outlets which tell as much truth as they can get away with.
And then there's the FCC, and it's plans to contend with.
But, cheer up! We still have celphones, and I'm sure you know that no dictatorship has even florished long-term in a society which has those.

The conservatives are not the ones trying to silence the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press, and directly interfere with public broadcasting.
That would be the liberals with their new push for a new version of the "Fairness Doctrine" also known as "The perfect road to complate fascism."
