You mean Russian military bases on a Sweden territory? I think it's impossible. It's hard to imagine that Sweaden will ever give the permission for that.

Baltic sea is already packed with commercial vessels almost colliding each other regularly. No matter what Russia would be doing in this region would be looked at suspiciously.. why, you may ask, because
Russia isn't really known in the world for its high tech and reliable machinery. So when Russia is building a gas pipeline to a already polluted ocean.. you can imagine... what people imagine will happen

We're neighbours and I can imagine that very good. As you know, St.Petersburg stands on the bank of the gulf of Baltic sea and ecologucal issues of all that are essentional for me too. I suppose that from an ecological point of view, a gas pipe is less dangerous than an oil one and oil tankers in Baltic sea worries me more than this pipe. As for reliable machinery - last time (in Black sea) they used Italien pipes, vessels and technology (as far as I remember).
And as a true Russian I should say that you're wrong and some of Russian high-tech machinery are very reliable, like famous launch vehicles "Soyus" and "Proton"

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about Russian cars
