Re: Bill Maher wishing Cheney's death!!!
[...]
Bill Maher was commenting on the Huffington Report. Arianna Huffington made an editorial choice on her website that she didn't want hate comments on it. Some posters on that site, after the incident involving the bombing in Pakistan near where Cheney was, expressed disappointment that Cheney didn't get bombed. Bill Maher's point was that people should be free to say these things, even if it's wrong.
Bill Maher stands for freedom of speech, something that some Americans still don't understand as a basic freedom. He went on to make the greater point that if Cheney were dead, a lot less people would end up dying because of his involvement in disastrous foreign policy initiatives by the Bush Administration.
It's surely an inconvenient truth that everyone must face because Maher brings up an interesting point: if Cheney had died from a heart attack in, say, 1999, would this many innocent people in Iraq be dead today? Who knows. But in an allegedly free society, people ought to be able to express this shit.
In the end, the right can be as upset as it wants about Bill Maher, who is a Libertarian by the way, not a liberal. They're just jealous because Maher is a hell of a lot funnier than Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly on any of their best days.
Maher really has his pulse on reality, whereas those other clowns just complain a lot about nothing. Coulter, Limbaugh, O'Reilly; what do they stand for anyway?
