I think Goober is wrong in his interpretation. This is only good for the Dems if they stay away from the old traditional liberal claptrap. Look at Carter for an example of how well that was recieved. However the country has also clearly rejected the conservative model. Look who the Dems won with in 06. It wasn't the traditional liberal Dem candidate. They won with moderate and conservative dems. What this means is that the country is once again turning to the middle, partly in fact mainly because it is tired of the rhetoric that produces no action. The arrogance of both sides. The constant refrain of we care about the American people or we are looking out for the American people when clearly neither is true. The county isn't going to turn to the left even using the US definition of the left. It is going back home, to the center.
