Sounds like an early party sacrifice. McClain's following the party line in attempts to get central party support. They'll pick someone who appeals to all demographics including the religious right. What they need is someone who will campaign on a primary platform of get out of Iraq, the strategy used for Nixon's election. I can't believe my former party affiliation (reformed Republican here, 2003, who still believes in small government and fiscal responsibility) has become so stupid.
