I consider the call for more regulation in this case excessive.

I challenge the implication that some central, single entity should have power over a company, or an industry.

A month's or a quarter's profits selling diseased meat will doom a comany, it's executives and it's stakeholders, and they all know it IMO and will adequately regulate themselves.
