What is stopping you and other liberals from getting the federal government to start a national Higher Optional Tax (H.O.T.)? A H.O.T. is where people can volutarily give more each week via their taxes from their paychecks. 3 states already have a H.O.T. so it could be done nationally.

If you claim to care as much as you say you do, then start a grassroots movement to get a H.O.T. for socialized medicine for people with no insurance.

I will always give you and other libs the "socialized medicine" argument because the government running it will screw it up. Just look at the public school system.

By the way, a big part of medicine costs are due to malpractice insurace and costs. And do you know that most of the lawyers who score big bucks on suing doctors donate way more to dems than to reps?

Regarding GM, part of the problem is high health care insurance, high wages, and unions. Another part of the problem is failing to build smaller and efficient cars and bad managment.

The General Welfare clause was never intended to mean taking money from working people and handing it out to others based on their life decisions. Do I need to post a quote from one of the founders that says this wasn't the intent???
